BHN Sponsors Online Course on Sustainable Organic Agriculture Production

To help increase awareness about sustainable agriculture production, Bio Huma Netics, Inc., (BHN) is sponsoring a FarmProgress course for Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) and Pest Control Advisers (PCAs) in the United States and Canada.

This free online continuing education course, titled “Organic/Sustainable Agriculture Production -2022” aims to help working professionals learn about sustainable farming practices and pest management without the use of synthetic chemicals.

During the training, participants will learn about most common pests in organic/sustainable agricultural systems and current methods of controlling insect pests, weeds, and diseases in a range of organic crops grown in the United States.

The two-hour duration course is divided into ten sections and allows participants to complete it at their own pace.

Univ. of Calif.: Huma Gro® Increases Strawberry Yields 30%

Huma Gro® Ultra-Precision™ Blend Plus Root Dip Increases Strawberry Yields 30%, Univ. of Calif.

Conducted by: Surendra K. Dara, PhD, University of California

Huma Gro® Products: Ultra-Precision™ Blend; plus root dip of Breakout®, Promax®, Vitol®, and Zap®

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this research project was to evaluate how a special blend of fertilizer solution and a root dip made of Huma Gro® products with Micro Carbon Technology® affect strawberry yield when compared with a control program of grower’s standard fertilizer and a competitor root dip product.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Strawberry cultivar San Andreas was grown on 300-feet long bed plots at a University of California research center in Shafter, Calif., on a soil that was not fumigated. A total of two beds were used for this experiment. Each bed had six subplots of 30 ft. long with an 18 ft. buffer between each subplot. This conventional production did not receive pre-plant fertilizer. [Read more…]

Huma Gro®: Practically Perfect in Every Way for Strawberries

Successful strawberry farming presents many unique challenges. As with every other type of crop, each farm will have its own challenges related to soil, soil tilth, soil pathogens, soil nutrient cycling, nutrient availability, plant vigor, irrigation needs, etc. Combined with those challenges are strawberry farming cultural practices related to continuous cropping and soil fumigation—with the resulting lack of crop diversity and soil microbial diversity that increases soil-borne diseases and tends to reduce yields over time. Strawberry farming continues to get more expensive while yields (and profits) are diminishing. What to do?
